Urology for young urologists

History

The SRU was founded in December 2014 by Sergej Staubli, Marco Randazzo, Marc Schneider, Michelle Grämiger, Christopher Tschung, Stefanie Cermak, Jennifer Seiler-Blarer, and Alexander Haab.

At that time, Sergej Staubli and Marco Randazzo noticed that two annual meetings of the European Society for Residents in Urology (ESRU) were held, where various European urology trainee associations sent their delegates. Although representatives from Switzerland attended these meetings, they were not officially representing Swiss urology residents, as there was no organized body for them at that time. This led them to establish an association—the SRU. The young organization made its official debut at the SGU Annual Congress in 2015.

Since its inception, the organization has continued to grow and has successfully implemented various events and projects. Over time, a strong collaboration developed with the SGU and its board, resulting in active participation and an ongoing exchange, including involvement in the training committee.
Nowadays, the SRU has more than 170 members and plays an active part in the formation of young urologists. The SRU offers a broad variety of different courses, workshops and training resources.
